Caliente Salsa and Bachata Student Spotlight - Akshay

Today, let us introduce to you one of our Salsa and Bachata social dancer šŸ˜ā¤ļøā€šŸ”„

Meet Akshay!

Tell us a little about yourself!

Hello, I am Akshay. I work in the finance industry, and I am very active outside of work hours, mostly playing squash, tennis, hitting the gym and dancing.

How did you get into learning Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba and/or Zouk dance in Singapore?

My journey to Latin dancing started at my university SMU, being a part of Ardiente, which focused on paso doble, jive, samba, rumba and cha cha dance. I then realised that I enjoyed dancing despite having 2 left feet. However, what drew me to Salsa dance was the Salsa socials, as you can dance literally anywhere with anyone.

What is your favourite dance class and why?

I enjoy Salsa level 4 classes as they are the right mix of fun: an interesting choreography together with challenging dance moves. It keeps me on my toes (pun intended).

What do you enjoy the most about dancing Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba and/or Zouk?

Dancing gives you the opportunity to de-stress, workout and meet fun people all at the same time.

What reasons will you give to someone to start learning how to dance Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba and/or Zouk?

It is a great couple activity if you have a partner, especially if you want to do something different than the usual dating actives, watching movies, eating out etc. For singles, it is a great way to meet interesting and fun people...and maybe even a future partner.

Which Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba and/or Zouk song do you like the most?

Mala - Marc Anthony (also since I like Mala noodles šŸ˜‹)
