Today, let us introduce to you one of our Salsa and Bachata Solo Shines and Lady Styling dancer ❤️🔥
Meet Olivia!
How did you get into learning Salsa and Bachata dance in Singapore?
I first encountered Latin music and culture living in Minnesota and later, Ecuador. Learning Spanish at the time, music was a way to pick up the language. My friends were also amazing dancers who could dance with their entire bodies, and I felt a mixture of envy and shame that I couldn’t move my hips (the harder I tried, the worse it looked). That inspired me to take up Salsa dance classes, and I loved the few times I visited Salsa dance clubs with my friends, seeing how dance can be such a freeing form of expression. Coming back to Singapore, I was really surprised and glad to find a school that taught Salsa and Bachata. The music and dancing bring back many good memories :’)
What is your favourite dance class and why?
I really like Salsa and how challenging the footwork can sometimes get. It’s good to have a challenge that tests both your memory as much as your body in executing really fast and precise steps.
What do you enjoy the most about dancing Salsa and Bachata?
The music is beautiful, and it helps you express whatever you’re feeling in a different way.
What reasons will you give to someone to start learning how to dance Salsa and Bachata?
As you improve, you can go from being the person with two left feet to someone with the courage to get onto the dance floor :)
Which Salsa or Bachata song do you like the most?
Bachata - El Amor Que Perdimos, Prince Royce
Caliente Team.
