Caliente Salsa and Bachata Student Spotlight - Sebastian

Today, let us introduce to you one of our Salsa and Bachata social dancer šŸ˜ā¤ļøā€šŸ”„

Meet Sebastian:

Tell us a little about yourself!

Call me Seb, short for Sebastian Cruz. Iā€™m originally from the Philippines based here in Singapore for more than a decade now working in the digital marketing space.

How did you get into learning Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba and/or Zouk dance in Singapore?

For me, itā€™s actually Grief.

I lost my grandmother last August and getting into dance perhaps was a way to recover from grief. Filipinos are known to sing, but also equally close to our heart is to dance Latin dances. It runs in our blood. I grew up in Manila and I used to spend weekends with our family dancing the afternoon away. My grandmother was a dancer since her younger days - chacha, salsa, tango, swing - you name it.

Returning to dance for me is resparking that joy from my childhood.

What is your favourite dance class and why?

I love Salsa. I love the speed and intensity of it. I didnā€™t realize how good of an exercise it is - particularly good for cardio and core.

What do you enjoy the most about dancing Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba and/or Zouk?

For me itā€™s that Joy you get after dancing for 3 hours. With Caliente Dance Studio - I enjoyed the Latin Social Dance nights where you meet people across all ages, and across all walks of life all connected by dance and getting lost in the music.

What reasons will you give to someone to start learning how to dance Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba and/or Zouk?

Almost everyone wants to be fit but not everyone enjoy going to the gym or intense sports. Dance I think is a good one to explore - perhaps itā€™s the one for you!

Which Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba and/or Zouk song do you like the most?
