Caliente Salsa and Bachata Student Spotlight - Shreya

Today, let us introduce to you one of our Salsa and Bachata social dancer šŸ˜ā¤ļøā€šŸ”„

Meet Shreya

Tell us a little about yourself!

Hi everyone, my name is Shreya! I'm a physiotherapist by profession and have been living in Singapore for three years. Dance has always been my hobby, and I used to practice Indian classical and hip-hop a few years back. I enjoy socializing, and I feel fortunate to have joined Caliente Dance Studio, where I can explore different dance forms and express myself.

How did you get into learning Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba and/or Zouk dance in Singapore?

Initially, I was looking for something that would excite me and make my day after work more enjoyable. I was recommended by one of my colleagues who had also attended a trial class at Caliente Dance Studio. That was when I decided to give it a try. After a trial class of Salsa social dance and Bachata social dance, it really sparked my interest and I decided to continue with it.

What is your favourite dance class and why?

I'd like to keep it neutral as both Salsa and Bachata are my favorite. If I want to challenge myself, I prefer Salsa, which is fast-paced and provides a good cardio workout. On the other hand, if I'm looking for something more flowing with good flexibility, I'll go for Bachata!

What do you enjoy the most about dancing Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba and/or Zouk?

I enjoy dancing for several reasons, but what I enjoy the most is the sense of freedom and self-expression it brings. When I'm on the dance floor, I feel like I can truly be myself and let go of any stress or worries. It's a form of creative release that allows me to connect with the music on a deeper level. Additionally, the social aspect of dancing is wonderful; I get to meet new people who share my passion and form meaningful connections. Whether it's the energy of Salsa, the sensuality of Bachata, or any other dance style, each has its unique charm that keeps me coming back for more.

What reasons will you give to someone to start learning how to dance Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba and/or Zouk?

Dancing is indeed a social activity that fosters connections and friendships. You'll have the opportunity to meet people who share your passion and form a supportive community. It's an excellent way to build confidence and improve your social skills, making it a fantastic choice for anyone looking to enrich their life. So, I would encourage you to start learning dancing and experience the joy and positivity it can bring to your life. On top of that, Caliente Dance Studio provides an amazing platform to improve yourself, including well-trained and lively instructors in a friendly environment.

Which Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba and/or Zouk song do you like the most?

"Mala" by Marc Anthony is a fantastic choice for Salsa, known for its lively rhythm and passionate lyrics that can really set the mood on the dance floor. "La Bachata" by Manuel Turizo must be quite the adrenaline rush for your Bachata sessions with its energy and catchy melodies adding excitement to your dance experience.
