Caliente Salsa and Bachata Student Spotlight - Tamir

This week, let us introduce to you one of our Salsa and Bachata partner dancer!

Meet Tamir 😎

How did you get into learning Salsa and Bachata in Singapore?

A friend introduced me to Latin dancing last year February when I was still in South Africa, and I absolutely fell in love with it. The combination of meeting great people and learning how to move while exercising was a potent combo and I instantly became addicted.

Unfortunately, this weird global pandemic started, and my dreams of becoming a world-class dancer were put on hold. I moved to Singapore 6 months ago and thought it would be great to give it another shot.

What is your favorite dance class and why?

I recently started Bachata level three, and I love the pace and challenge of the class. The moves are a little more advanced, the pace is fast, and the people are great. It's pushing me out of my comfort zone and therefore forcing me to become a better dancer.

What do you enjoy the most about dancing Salsa and Bachata?

There is this state of flow one gets into when you just feel the music and the chemistry with your partner is perfect. You think less and move more, which is an incredibly relaxing and rewarding process.

I am only three months into classes, so it's tough to get into that flow when I'm still mouthing "1, 2,3 tap", but I'm sure as I continue to practice, it will come more naturally.

Lastly, it's a great way to meet fun, like-minded people.

What reasons will you give to someone to start learning how to dance Salsa and Bachata?

Phenomenal way to meet new people! It's healthy for your brain and body. Research shows dancers are far less likely to suffer from mental diseases like dementia and Alzheimers.

It's so much fun!

Which Salsa or Bachata song do you like the most?

Rotem Cohen - Kol Cach Yafe Lach.

Thank you for sharing your salsa and bachata dance passion with us!
