Meet Geet!

Tell us a little about yourself!

Hey there ! I'm Geet. I'm a Software Engineer based in Singapore, I've been here for over three years now. Six months ago, I began my dancing journey with Caliente Dance Studio, and it has been an incredible experience for me so far. Dancing has allowed me to express myself creatively and challenge myself physically, and I feel grateful to be a part of such a vibrant dance community. Outside of dancing, I like to stay active by playing lawn tennis and basketball, which keeps me energized and focused.

How did you get into learning Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba and/or Zouk dance in Singapore?

An acquaintance of mine recommended that I try social dancing, specifically Salsa dance. At first, I was hesitant to give it a try, but eventually ended up trying a Salsa and Bachata social dance class. To my surprise, I found myself enjoying it immensely, and I have been dancing ever since.

What is your favourite dance class and why?

I enjoy both Salsa and Bachata social dance classes because they offer unique experiences that I find equally satisfying. Salsa music has an upbeat and energetic tempo that always puts me in a great mood and allows me to express myself through its dynamic movements. On the other hand, Bachata dance is slower pace and more intimate style that provides a perfect opportunity to connect with my dance partner . Each dance form has its own distinct character and requires a different skill set, which keeps me challenged and engaged. Overall, I feel grateful to be able to enjoy both of these beautiful Latin dances and appreciate the variety they offer.

What do you enjoy the most about dancing Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba and/or Zouk?

The most enjoyable aspect of dancing Salsa or Bachata for me is the feeling of being fully present in the moment and developing a strong sense of connection with my dance partner. There is something magical about moving in sync with another person and interpreting the music together. The rhythmic movements of Salsa and Bachata dances allow me to express myself in a way that feels freeing and exhilarating.

Additionally, the social aspect of partner dancing is a big part of what makes it so enjoyable for me. I have met many wonderful people through dancing and hope to have lasting friendships. All in all, the fulfillment I experience from dancing Salsa or Bachata is unmatched by any other activity.

What reasons will you give to someone to start learning how to dance Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba and/or Zouk?

Social dancing is a fun way to stay active, meet new people, express yourself creatively, and build self-confidence. It's an opportunity to challenge yourself, explore new styles, and have a great time.

Which Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba and/or Zouk song do you like the most?

Since I began dancing at Caliente Dance Studio, my music playlist has been flooded with Latin songs, and there are many that I'm buzzing to. Some of my favorites include La Formula (Marc Anthony and Maluma), Fulanito (Becky G, El Alfa), and Eres Mia (Romeo Santos)!
