Caliente Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba, Zouk Student Spotlight - Simone

Today, let us introduce to you one of our Salsa, Bachata partner social dance studentšŸ„°ā¤ļøā€šŸ”„

Meet Simone!

Tell us a little about yourself!

Hi there! I am Simone, 27, from Italy. I have been living in Singapore for about 3 years. Aside from work, my time is happily spent in church, with family and friends, playing sports, and, recently, latin dancing!

How did you get into learning Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba and/or Zouk dance in Singapore?

My wife has been asking me to sign up for many months to joinn a dance class and in the end, I decided to try it outā€¦ and I love it!

What is your favourite dance class and why?

Salsa dance is my favourite because it is very dynamic and energetic, and itā€™s very satisfying to get the dance move combos right in tune with the music. Also, the Salsa basic dance steps are already a lot of fun, so as I learn new moves it keeps getting more and more fun!

What do you enjoy the most about dancing Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba and/or Zouk?

- The music: I think itā€™s part of human nature to have the instinct of moving in tune with the music (look at toddlers when they are exposed to music and youā€™ll get an unfiltered example of that!). And for me, some Latin music - like Salsa and Bachata - has the power to solicit movement more than other music genres!

- The social aspect of dancing. Dancing with not choreographed moves through a whole song with a person you have never met before and being able to lead the other personā€™s movements is something special! Itā€™s like speaking a language that both of you understand (and sometimes it happened that it was the only one we could both understand šŸ˜‚).

What reasons will you give to someone to start learning how to dance Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba and/or Zouk?

Itā€™s fun! Also, itā€™s a great activity to unwind and meet new people. And let me say this: if you are doubtful about your coordination or ability to follow the music just like I was, a great thing to know is that it is fairly easy to pick up dancing at Caliente Dance Studio as a beginner, and in social dance nights I never felt too noob or looked down on due to my lack of dance skill.

Which Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba and/or Zouk song do you like the most?

Mr. Don - Sin Tu Amor (Bachata)

Sergio George's Salsa Giants - Bajo la Tormenta (Salsa)
